I experimented with various ways of creating a simplified image by making two versions and blending them together: one version would be mostly color, and the other mostly lines. In this particular case, in iColorama, I used a Water preset for the mostly color version, and Edges for the mostly lines version. Making the edges usually requires softening the image first to get rid of details that could generate unwanted edges. For each image, I usually have to experiment with different ways of simplifying the image, combined with different ways of getting the edges.
I started with this photo from Pixabay, a source of copyright-free images.
In iColorama, I applied Tonelab preset 4 for clarity and depth. It also adds some nice color.
I used Effect/Scrape then Style/Water preset 9 to simplify the image. This is the "water" image we will later in the blending step.
Now going back to the Tonelab'd original image, I used Style/Simplify preset 10 to soften the image in preparation for making the edges.
Now I applied Style/Edges preset 1.
Now in Effect/Blend, I blended the Edges version onto the Water version.
