Big Hair 2

I used the Art Set app for a hand drawn effect, and Metabrush for the big hair as well as the texture over the face.

I started with this photo from the Sktchy app. Sktchy photos are small, so I upsized it in BigPhoto twice. The image is noisy and has compression artifacts. We will fix that by completely writing over the image with new pixels.

I opened the image in iColorama. I used Effect/Glow for smoothing, and then Form/Warp to make the head fill the canvas, and then Effect/Blend to blend back the features of the original, using an inverted brush mask.

I opened the image in the Art Set app and painted over the image.

In iColorama, I used Effect/Blend to blend the Glow version of the woman on top of the Art Set version, in Normal mode at low opacity.

I opened the image in the Metabrush app. In Brushes/Paint, on a new layer, I used Stipple brush 4/25 to paint over the image, then reduced the opacity of the layer.

I used this Pixabay photo as the brush image for the above image in Metabrush. Pixabay is a source of copyright-free images.

Still in Metabrush, on another layer, I painted on this hair. I used the Gradient 16/32 brush. In brush settings, I set structure and shadow to the maximum, I used position variance .50, rotation variance .25, and spacing of zero. I used the same brush image as previously.

I lowered the opacity of the hair layer a bit, and saved.

I opened the image in iColorama. I used Adjust/Tonelab preset 4 at low opacity for tonal separation.

Using Adjust/Exposure and an inverted brush mask, I lightened the eyes. Then I removed the mask. Then I used Tone/Sepia at medium opacity to desaturate the whites of the eyes, using an inverted brush mask. Keeping this mask in place, I used Effect/Denoise preset 2 to smooth the whites of the eyes. Then I removed the mask. Using Adjust/Exposure, with an inverted brush mask, I increased the contrast of the irises in Adjust/Levels. Then using Brush/Paint, I painted in catchlights in the eyes.

I used Brush/Paint at low opacity with an inverted brush mask, to paint a touch of light on the lower lip.

Now for the finishing touches. I used Effect/Raise preset 1 at low size for a touch of definition. I used Tone/Sepia at low opacity with an inverted brush mask to reduce saturation in the colors on her neck. Then I used Preset/Border preset 3 at low radius and medium opacity, using the color picker to choose a blue/green from the image.

For some variations on this image, in iColorama, I used Effect/Blend to blend the above image with the blurred woman, using three different blending modes and opacities.
