Pink Hair

To make an image that looks like a drawing colored in with watercolor, I started with a photo, redrew and repainted it in the Sketches Pro app, and then edited in iColorama.

This is the original photo from the Sktchy app. This was a very small file, so I upsized it twice in BigPhoto.

I opened the upsized photo in Sketches Pro on a new layer in Normal blend mode, over a blank white layer. Then I created another new layer above the photo layer, in Normal blend mode, and I and drew some outlines with a black pen. Because the photo layer is over a white layer, I can lower the opacity of the photo layer when I want to see more of my sketch/painting, and I can raise the opacity of the photo layer when I need to see it so I can trace lines.

I added another new layer in Multiply blending mode, and I used a watercolor brush to paint in the colors. Then I added a new layer in Normal blending mode, and I used a white crayon to paint catchlights onto the eyes. I saved to my camera roll.

I opened the image in iColorama, and cropped. Then I used Adjust/Tonelab preset 4 at low opacity, which adds a bit of depth, and then Tone/Enhance to modify the color.

Still in iColorama, I applied ET-Flow to get a bit of a blurry look. I used the first preset and experimented with different slider settings. Then I applied a Style/Water preset at medium opacity.

Still in iColorama, I used Effect/Blend to blend an earlier pre-iColorama version of the image onto the current version, and then used an inverted brush mask to paint back some of the edges. I applied Style/Flow at low opacity to smooth the lines, keeping the brush mask still in place. Then I saved the image to my camera roll. I opened the image in the Elasticam app and modified the eyes so they face the viewer.
