Congratulations to the participants of the 2020 Virtual Georgia Science & Engineering Fair!

The Georgia Science & Engineering Fair converted to a virtual format for its 72nd season. We are proud of the students who successfully submitted their project materials for virtual judging and extraordinarily grateful to the parents, teachers, and mentors who assisted in this process. These students have persevered through adversity and stayed the course toward continued achievements in STEM. We commend them for their excellent research and their ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

We wish to extend our sincere gratitude to our judging team. Each year, GSEF depends on the help of hundreds of highly qualified volunteer judges to evaluate projects and submit feedback for students. Reviewing projects is no small task, especially given the high caliber of research submitted to GSEF this year. We are grateful that our judging team has remained committed to supporting the hard work of our exhibitors, even amidst unusual circumstances. GSEF would not have been possible without you.

We also wish to thank to our award sponsors for their support of Special Awards for the Georgia Science & Engineering Fair. Your sponsorship has helped our students understand how their research fits into a real-world context and is valued by professionals in their field. It means a great deal to our young researchers to know their efforts are supported and encouraged by leading science and engineering professionals across the state and country. Thank you!

GSEF would not be possible without the dedication, hard work, and excellent leadership of local and Regional Fairs across the state. We appreciate your efforts and unwavering commitment to proving these opportunities for Georgia's young STEM researchers.

The University of Georgia's Office of Academic Special Programs extends a very special thank you to our sponsor, Burns & McDonnell.

About GSEF

The Georgia Science & Engineering Fair (GSEF) is a program of the University of Georgia’s Office of Academic Special Programs, which represents an educational program area within the Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel, a unit of the Office of Public Service and Outreach. GSEF is Georgia’s premier forum for students to showcase their original research, compete for awards, and interact with top-level professional scientists.

Every year, thousands of students compete in local science fairs across the state; winners of these fairs are invited to compete in one of the GSEF-affiliated regional fairs, and the top projects from each regional fair are invited to attend and compete at GSEF. At GSEF, exhibitors have the opportunity to share their research with some of the top science and engineering professionals in Georgia and compete for awards. The science fair system in Georgia serves not only to recognize students for their achievements, but also to prepare students to succeed and flourish in an increasingly complex and highly technical world by becoming problem solvers, critical thinkers, reflective learners, and more productive and influential members of their communities.
