My name is David Blake Johnson. I am an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Central Missouri, where my research lies at the intersection of applied microeconomics and behavioral economics. Much of my work focuses on firearms, using quasi-experimental methods, time-series analysis, and other econometric tools to study how gun prevalence, dealer density, and gun laws shape outcomes such as homicide, suicide, injuries, crime, and reporting practices. Current projects examine topics that range from estimating gun sales at small geographic units to the influence of concealed-carry permitting on injury rates and the role of law enforcement in preventing firearm deaths.
You can find my working papers here, along with earlier versions of my published manuscripts.
