About The FGC
Striving to generate a healthy, healing, and growing Indigenous community, The Future Generations Collaborative centers traditional values and collaboration in the prevention of FASD, and provide lifelong support to community members who have been impacted by FASD, through multi-generational educational programming, community driven engagement, Indigenized evaluation and research, and innovative policy shifts.
The Future Generations Collaborative operates in greater Multnomah County on stolen and occupied Chinook and Clackamas communities' land.
The FGC operates on Collective Impact - the belief and understanding that we are all in this together and stronger when we are able to build on our collective wisdom and strengths. Our partners are individuals, families, communities, organizations, agencies, governmental entities, and children. Together we work on several projects to care for our community.
Using the balance of the medicine wheel we operate in four modes: education, engagement, policy, and evaluation. Lead by our mode leads (experts in their respective fields), the various modes work with our partners, and Elders and Natural Helpers (specially trained community members) to respond to community need, and live out our mission while reaching for our vision.

Engagement Mode
This mode is lead by the Native Wellness Institute Executive Director, Jillene Joseph.
Latest Projects Include:
Barbie's Village - Housing village for folks experiencing housing instability in our community who are also impacted with FASD
Communications - Newsletter, Website, and Social Media Presence
Decolonizing Summit - Postponed
Canoe Family - development of a Canoe Family for FGC and storage for our canoe
BIPOC Decolonizing Data Team - ways public health can be more impactful for BIPOC communities through data gathering and data analysis
Community Engagement Events - many community events including baby showers, cultural events, support circles, conversations, and more!

Education Mode
This mode is lead by SPIRIT's founder, and early intervention and education specialist, Suzie Kuerschner.
Projects Include:
FASD Diagnostic Center - Collaboration with the Grand Ronde Tribe to develop a center that will serve our state in diagnosing and treating folks with an FASD diagnosis
FASD Technical Assistance and Training - Providing support to providers working with those impacted by FASD

Family & Parenting Support - Development of playgroups, designing culturally specific supports for education, parenting and play, assist parents in IFSP and IEP's, and school advocacy
Policy Mode
This mode is lead by Portland's Native American Youth and Family Center's Health Equity Coordinator, Natalyn Begay.
Projects Include:
Legislative Priorities - Researches proposed policy, provides technical support to community and ways for people to engage civically
Develop legislative priorities in collaboration with the other modes
Support community members in accessing civic engagement opportunities
Build relationships with legislators and policy makers
Census 2020 - Education and outreach to the families in our communities to make the census more accessible
Housing Connections - Housing is an issue in our community and getting policy on board with our projects is important
Evaluation Mode
This mode is lead by Raven Harmon.
Projects Include:
Decolonized Evaluative Practices - using storytelling as a valid form of keeping track of progress and efficacy
Integrates Modes of the FGC to support each-others projects moving toward a common goal and keeping track of benchmarks
Evaluates the modes and provides opportunities to engage with community members and partners in this process
