Self Directed Lessons

Self-Directed Learning

As a district we are working towards creating more personalized learning for our students, learning that is meaningful to them at the moment. In that effort, I am working to create a library of Self-Directed Learning lessons. These lessons can be completed anywhere and at anytime, individually or in a group. They can be shared with your students if they need the same training! If there is a lesson needed, please feel free to request it. Once you've completed a lesson, please fill out the evaluation form. This form will help to create more lessons and to improve those already created.

Screencastify

Screencastify - How to For Teachers

A comprehensive how-to slide deck focusing on the program Screencastify.

Screencastify is a tool that allows teachers to record videos using their webcam, just their screen, or a combination of both. These videos are saved directly to Google Drive, which makes for easy upload to Google Classroom or sharing via email or ClassDojo.

The materials for this slide deck came from Screencastify's Help Center as well as the creator's experience with the program.

During normal school situations the limit of the video is 5 minutes, but due to COVID-19 quarantine and shelter in place, the company has given the district unlimited access for free.

Google Sites

SEC Google Sites

Slide show was created for the 2018 Student Engagement Conference at Kankakee Community College.

In this half day session, participants will learn how to create their own website utilizing Google Sites. Participants will need their district provided device and a plan of what they are wanting to create. We will take time to learn how to embed Google Calendars, videos, Google Forms, Docs, Slide Decks, and Drawings, as well as creating multiple pages within the site.

Google Sites can be used not only as a teacher page that increases communication between school and home, but also as a means to drive instruction in the blended learning classroom.
