Our Mission

The mission of the Princeville Band Program is to foster a lifelong passion for music in each one of its students, as well as reinforce life-skills vital for students' success in the world beyond school through performance in the Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Rock Band, and Chamber Ensembles. Students who choose to participate in the Princeville Band Program will:

  • Grow towards a higher level of musicianship pertaining to both their instrumental technique, as well as their understanding of musical form, style, and genre which will benefit them in their everyday life

  • Develop important life skills to become functional, productive members of society. Performing with a musical ensemble requires students to be able to work cooperatively, follow leadership (from the director or from other student leaders), have self-discipline, and be responsible and punctual at all times

  • Be made aware of musical opportunities available from both a career and hobby perspective

  • Grow in their self-realization and actualization. Participation in music exposes students to aesthetic and emotional experiences, creative outlets, mental stimulation at a high level of critical thinking, self-expression opportunities, and helps develop one's physical, spiritual, and mental health

  • Perform at the highest level that is congruent with the experience and maturity of the group, without sacrificing the individual needs of its members
