MAZE

As you stumble into the display settings folder, brick walls suddenly rise up around you. You're in a maze - a screensaver! Letters appear along your path. You'll have to navigate the maze and collect a word as you go through, but be careful of false paths!

You reach what must be the end, a wall marked out by this grid of smaller red and black bricks that you haven't seen before. Many of the bricks have fallen out, and you’ll need to replace them in the correct order to get out of the maze.

There can only be three of each color (black and red) in each row and each column. No more than two bricks of the same color can be next to each other. No row is the same as any other row, and no column is the same as any other column.

You may want to draw it out on scratch paper to help you solve the puzzle. You can also make a copy of this document to use as digital scratch paper.

DID YOU KNOW? The screensaver maze was introduced with Windows 95 and discontinued with Windows 2000. While our maze ends with a brick puzzle, the screensaver maze ended with a floating smiley face. You can find online videos of the original visuals, if you missed the experience the first time around - just try not to get too dizzy!
