I am a third-year PhD student in Mathematics at Princeton (start date: August 2022), advised by Christopher Skinner. I am interested in algebraic number theory, more specifically Iwasawa theory, special values of L-functions, automorphic forms, and Shimura varieties. I passed my General exams on May 12th, 2023; my committee members were Chris Skinner, Shou-wu Zhang, and Ruobing Zhang.
I graduated from Yale University in May 2022 with a combined B.S./M.S. in Mathematics, and a Certificate (i.e. minor) in Russian language. I was awarded the DeForest Prize in Mathematics at graduation.
I'm originally from San José, Costa Rica. Before moving to the US for university, I represented Costa Rica at the 59th IMO in 2018, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Euler Systems via Eisenstein Classes on Modular Curves (with Zhengyuan Shang and Christopher Skinner).
In preparation.
Higher Beauville components of Ceresa cycles and Modified Diagonals (with Lucas Lagarde, Mohamed Moakher, Morena Porzio, and James Rawson).
In preparation.
An Unconditional Explicit Bound on the Error Term in the Sato-Tate Conjecture (2021) (with Alexandra Hoey, Jonas Iskander, Steven Jin).

For the last few years Chris Skinner and Akshay Venkatesh have organized learning seminars at Princeton on historical mathematics. Some notes I have prepared for talks in these seminars:
2023-2024 (Historical Class Field Theory): Hilbert's Zahlbericht, Hilbert 94 (=90+4), and the Birth of the Hilbert Class Field.
2024-2025 (History of Iwasawa Theory): Iwasawa's Gamma Extensions of Algebraic Number Fields.
I co-organized the Graduate Student Seminar at Princeton in 2023-2024 with Seoyeon Yang.
I co-organized a seminar on reps of p-adic reductive groups with Kenz Kallal in Fall 2023.
Name: my surname is "Trejos Suárez:" it is two words, separated by a space. In particular, alphabetically it starts with T. My name is long, so it is 100% OK to shorten my name to "Fernando Trejos" for convenience, but it is never correct to say "Fernando Suárez." The LaTeX code for my second surname is Su\'arez.
