Inspire and Dazzle - #InspiredToLearn PSHE Examples -
Year One, Year Two and Year Three have had a BRILLIANT #InspiredToLearn afternoon recently working with Ant and Dec as part of the
NSPCC's Speak Out. Stay Safe. Programme.
Pupils worked collaboratively in mixed-age groups to build a stand or display for their class' Worry Monster while thinking about the importance of everyone having the right to speak out and stay safe.
Year Four had the incredible privilege of welcoming Edward Morello, MP for West Dorset, to The Prince of Wales School as part of UK Parliament Week!
Edward met with our Year Four pupils and School Council members, who asked him some brilliant questions, including:
How long have you been a Member of Parliament?
Why did you decide to become a Member of Parliament?
How did you become a Member of Parliament?
What is the hardest decision you have had to make in Parliament?
How often do you go to Parliament (Westminster)?
What happens if there is a disagreement in Parliament?
What was your favourite lesson at school?
And perhaps the most important question of all… What is your favourite dip to put on chips? (Edward is a red sauce man! 🍅)
Our pupils were inspired by Edward’s insights and stories, sparking curiosity and deepening their understanding of how Parliament shapes our country.
The thoughtful questions from our School Council showed just how engaged and inquisitive our young learners are.
A huge thank you to Edward for taking the time to visit and for sharing his passion for democracy with us. This memorable experience will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on our pupils!
Our School Council promotes -
Citizenship and Democracy: Our School Council provides a practical way for children to learn about these concepts by actively participating in the decision-making process within our school.
Communication Skills: School Council involvement can help POW children develop and practice these skills through meetings, discussions and interactions with their peers and teachers.
Our POW School Council plays a valuable role in helping our children to become active, responsible and engaged members of their school community and society.
