Read the novel Tender Earth by Sita Brahmachari and write a reflective log.

Task 2: Coraline

Watch the film of Coraline and write a film review.

Task 3: Detective Fiction

Read one of the two detective novels in the reading list below and write a letter of recommendation to your best friend.

Task 4: Macbeth

Watch a video of the actress Niamh Cusack rehearsing her role as Lady Macbeth and create director notes on her performance.

Task 5: Poetry

Research SLAM performance poetry and write your own SLAM poem.

Task 6: Fairy Tales

Read a Fairy Tale written by Hans Christian Anderson or The Brothers Grimm and write a diary entry reflecting on your reading.

YEAR 8

Task 1: The Fox Girl & the White Gazelle

Research task: choose a country to research with high levels of refugees and write a fact sheet about that country

Task 2: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Create a one page visual summary of the play.

Task 3: The Apprentice: Advertising Unit

Compare the popularity of two products using Google Trends and share your findings with your teacher.

Task 4: Northern Lights

Create your own personal daemon: create a character card using the template provided and draw your daemon character.

Task 5: Ballads

Read 'Annabel Lee' by Edgar Allan Poe and complete three tasks from the activity grid provided.

Task 6: The Modern Play

Design or build your own set for the play The Exam.

YEAR 9

Task 1: Much Ado About Nothing

Record a podcast called ‘Much Ado About Feminism’ and share it with your teacher.

Task 2: The Modern Novel: Dystopian Fiction

Click on the links to the reading lists provided. Read at least three different extracts from the list of Young Adult book recommendations. Choose one to read as your silent reading book in English.

Task 3: Creative Writing

Create a 24-word story like the example provided. You can choose to write in any genre.

Task 4: Poetry

Create your own blackout poem called: Love. Use the poem ‘Valentine’ by Carol Ann Duffy as inspiration.

Task 5: Women in 19th Century Literature

Watch the video clips, adapted from famous Victorian novels. Make notes on the presentation of women in Victorian society and compare them to women in the 21st century in the table provided.

Task 6: The Power of the Media

Using a still image from the movie ‘The Truman Show' as inspiration, storyboard your own movie. Feel free to plan a movie in any genre that you wish.
