Personal Narrative Cycle
Welcome to the guild, young writers! Like our friends in the video, you are now a writer! Writers think creatively and enjoy the process of getting their ideas onto paper. If you don’t know how to do that yet, please do not despair! Mr. Dragon and Lu the Young Writer are also learning! Follow their adventures in the videos below. You will learn an important skill in each episode that will help you become a master writer!
Inspire
The first step in becoming a writer is to gather creative, exciting thoughts and feelings. Enjoy the story your Guide reads to you and think about what parts you want to copy into your own story. If you start to feel stuck, use these photos to help you find a story in your head and in your heart.
Get Your Ideas Out on Paper
It’s time to use the ideas from your mentor text. This is a practice in Learning Over Comfort! Set a goal to write until all of your ideas are out on paper. If you want to plan your story before you get your ideas out on paper, use one of these planners. Remember to have fun creating your own story!
Visiting the Editor
Work with one friend who will play the role of Editor! The Editor is focused on the look of your story. They will ask you to read your story and will make suggestions to make your story stronger. After you visit the editor, you can make changes to your writing. Remember to reflect on your growth as a writer and mark your editing game as needed. You won't finish your game in one day. Instead, you will use these editing games to check on your growth over time.

The Publishing House
Congratulations! Your story is ready for publication! If you want, add illustrations and a title. Then work with your friends from the Writers Guild to bind your book. Remember to celebrate when you are done!
