Today, in much of the world, women have the same rights as men. But that has not always been the case. For centuries, women had to work hard to be able to work in any job they wanted, to get paid the same as men for the same work, and to be able to vote. Thanks to the courage and efforts of many women leaders, these things were achieved.

Susan B. Anthony is a well-known suffragist, which means she fought for women to have the right to vote. Later in life, she met Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and the two of them became ardent and vocal leaders of the women's rights movement.
