Did you know that we have 3 licensed Play Therapists on staff? SO, what IS Play therapy anyway?!
Martha Gray has been a practicing play therapist at Premier Charter School since 2002. We have been able to provide supervision, training and on going consultation to our school counselors throughout the duration of that time. This allowed PCS to have a unique opportunity to have Licensed therapist with Play therapy credentials on campus. Please look to the Association of Play Therapy for more information on how play therapy works!
What is play therapy?
Due to the very nature of play as fun, innate, and effortless, the field of play therapy, in using this “language” as central to its practice, is challenged by the outward appearance of the very serious and theoretical work that is being done. Moreover, play therapy is regarded as an evidence based practice (SAMSHA, 2014) and should only be provided by licensed clinical mental health professionals with a graduate mental health degree and extensive specialized play therapy education, training, and supervised experience.
