Use these approaches to connect course Assessments (Discussions, Quizzes, Exams, and Assignments) with the Gradebook.
It is easier to create the grade item first, then to connect it to an assessment using these methods.
But you can also create a new grade item from the assessment as well.
Select the Discussion Topic (not the Forum).
Select the Assessment tab.
Select the corresponding grade item from the "Grade Item" drop-down menu.
Or, create a New Grade Item here.
Click "Save and Close" at the bottom when done.
Select the Assignment.
On the "Properties" tab, scroll down to the "Evaluation and Feedback" section.
Select the corresponding grade item from the "Grade Item" drop-down menu.
Or, create a New Grade Item here.
Click "Save and Close" at the bottom when done.
Select the Assignment.
On the main section, click the drop-down menu for "In-Grades," and select "Choose from Grades."
Note: You will first need to assign a score. The drop-menu for "In Grades" will not appear until you assign a score.
In the pop-up window:
Select the top option to create a new item in the gradebook.
Or, select the second option to link the assignment to an existing item in the gradebook. If you select this option, you will need to identify the corresponding item in the gradebook.
Click "OK" when done, and click "Save and Close" on the bottom of the assignment.
Select the Quiz or Exam.
Select the Assessment tab.
Select the corresponding grade item from the "Grade Item" drop-down menu.
Or, create a New Grade Item here.
Consider also selecting:
The option to automatically grade the assessment.
The option to automatically export or publish exam scores to the gradebook.
Click "Save and Close" at the bottom when done.
