Course Introduction Module
Online learning scholarship recommends that online courses have a Course Introduction module which includes basic information about the course that will be useful for students. The Course Information module is a folder in the Course Content area that is listed above the weekly or unit modules.
The Course Information module typically includes the following content items:
Instructor Information – instructor name, email, phone, office location, office hours, and a brief bio.
Links to the Syllabus and Class Schedule, either as a single document or separately.
Textbook Information and a link to the online bookstore.
Instructions on How to Navigate the Course.
Other Useful Information About the Course – class policies, information about clinical and lab sessions, information about academic honesty, and any other information that would be useful for your course.
If your online course does not have a Course Information module, consider uploading the D2L Template. It includes a Course Information module with templates for instructor information, the syllabus, the course schedule, academic honesty, and other resources.
