Pioneer Book Bundle - First Day Complete (the Pioneer Book Bundle) is a program that ensures all students have access to their textbooks on the first day of class. After you register for classes, you will be automatically charged $25 per credit hour for rental access to your textbooks, which you must return at the end of the semester to avoid being charged. Your books will either be available for pickup in the PSC Bookstore or will be mailed directly to your home, depending on your selection.
Opting Out of the Pioneer Book Bundle - While the program is meant to save you money, it may not be financially beneficial in a given semester. I encourage you to carefully review the required materials in each of your courses to identify whether this program will benefit you. Things to look for:
The cost of your textbooks on Amazon or other bookseller websites
Whether or not the course materials are free for you to access (the textbooks for COMM101 are free)
The high cost of some textbooks (art, science, math, etc.) is often very expensive, and opting in will most likely be beneficial.
Determine whether you would want to keep the textbook and think about the cost of renting versus owning. You can opt out online until October 10 here. Remember, you must return your books at the end of the semester to avoid being charged.
You must opt out of the program EACH semester you attend Prairie State.
