Mindfulness is the state of being aware, a mental state focusing on present thoughts, feelings and sensations. In a society of near constant distraction, having the ability to focus your attention and concentrate is a very important skill. It is directly related to productivity and creativity. Research suggests that the benefits of mindfulness practice shows up almost immediately and can help reduce anxiety, attention deficit disorder, and post traumatic stress. Practicing mindfulness for just ten minutes can help sharpen the brain's ability to stay on task and focused. Over time, regular mindfulness practice can help calm the part of the brain that responds to stress.
