Special Education

Sarah Burk

Sarah Burk has been a member of the PHS/WMS family since 2001. She graduated from Beloit College with a Bachelors in Sociology while studying in the Education program and then later studied at Rockford University for a Masters in Teaching with an emphasis in Special Education. Her teaching experiences span regular education, gifted education, and special education from Kindergarten through high school! Her love of learning and desire to support others in her field led her to study Educational Leadership at Aurora university. She has served as the Special Education Supervisor for the Prairie Hill School District since 2015.

Doug Elfstrom

Doug Elfstrom graduated from Luther College in Decorah, IA in 2009. He taught in Belgium, Iowa, and Minnesota before landing back near home (Stillman Valley, IL) in the Prairie Hill School District in 2015. He teaches 6th and 7th grade Special Education, and also coaches track in the spring.

Chuck Leonard

Chuck Leonard began teaching in the fall of 1999 and joined the district as a 4th grade teacher at PHS in 2003. From there he moved on to join the Willowbrook staff as a 5th grade teacher in 2013, where he taught Social Studies and Math. In 2018 Mr. Leonard made the move to work in the Special Education department. When not at school, Mr. Leonard enjoys reading, sports, the outdoors, and riding his motorcycle.

Susie Park

Susie Park joined Prairie Hill School District in 2020. She received her bachelor of arts degree in Liberal Studies with an area of concentration in Language Acquisition from California State University at Chico in 2001. Susie completed her Learning and Behavior Specialist Endorsement from Olivet Nazarene University in 2021. Susie is a mom of 2 boys, who attend the Prairie Hill School district. She enjoys taking her three dogs for walks, and during her free time she enjoys spending quality time with her family, camping and traveling whenever her schedule allows.
