What do you think happens to rocks, soil, water, or sand in sunlight?
Do you think that they are the same temperature as those in the shade?
Why do you think that?
Observe: On a sunny day, compare how the ground feels in the sunlight and in the shade. Can you find rocks in the sun and the shade? Do they feel the same or different? If you have a thermometer, take the temperature of the objects.

Heart Health
Today we are going to be learning and thinking about ways to keep our hearts healthy and strong!
The Heart
The heart is a muscle, and it works hard to provide the blood their bodies need.
The heart also provides oxygen and nutrients, and rids the body of waste.
Your heart is to the left middle of the chest. (Have students place their hand over their heart to feel the heartbeat)
With each beat, the heart fills with blood and then contracts or tightens to push the blood out.
Ways to Build Heart Health
There are great ways we can strengthen our heart muscle:
Get Physical Activity EVERY day
Never smoke
Practice relaxation, like yoga or breathing
