Dream it. Believe it. Achieve it.

AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination. It is an elective class during the regular school day that provides academic instruction and prepares students to go directly to a 4-year university. Enrollment in this program is limited to 7th and 8th grade students at BMMS who fit a certain criteria, are recommended by teachers and show individual determination as well as a desire to attend a four-year university. To be considered for the program , students first must submit an application. See "Application and Interview Process" for this information.

Black Mountain Middle School has had AVID for 23 years. As a National Demonstration school, we are the most highly certified AVID site.

We are currently looking for NEW students!

Applications will be available Tuesday, March 1st and due Friday, March 18th. Students need to also submit a Flipgrid interview.

The applications will be an online form. We will link the form here on March 1st.
