BMMS AVID!
Dream it. Believe it. Achieve it.
The AVID Fam[ILY]
AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination. It is an elective class during the regular school day that provides academic instruction and prepares students to go directly to a four-year university. Enrollment in this program is available to 7th and 8th-grade students at BMMS who fit certain criteria including strong citizenship and work habits, are recommended by teachers, and show individual determination as well as a desire to attend a four-year university. To be considered for the elective class, students are required to complete an application and interview.
Black Mountain Middle School has had AVID for 24 years. As a National Demonstration school, we are the most highly certified AVID site.
We are currently looking for NEW students!
Applications will be available Wednesday, March 1st and due Monday, March 20th. Students need to also submit a Flipgrid interview.
The applications will be an online form. We will link the form here on March 1st.
