Jeff Delaney - Varsity Head Coach
Coach Delaney enters his 22nd season of coaching high school football. This will be his 1st season as the Head Coach at Pottstown.
Coach Delaney started his coaching career at Kennedy-Kenrick High School in Norristown as the Head Freshman Coach (95-96) and coached linebackers and running backs for the varsity (97). In 1998 he served as the Defensive Coordinator for Jenkintown High School. He served as the head coach of Pottstown Middle School (99) and then as offensive and defensive line assistant for the varsity under Jody Cwik (00-02) when the Trojans were the 2002 Undefeated PAC-10 Champions and the first PHS team to play in the District 1 playoffs.
In 2003 he served as the Offensive Coordinator at St. Pius X and returned to Pottstown from 2004-2006 as the Offensive Coordinator under Rick Daniels. In 2017 he got his principal certification and worked for 1370 WPAZ as a radio color commentator and reporter then in 2008 he served as the Defensive Coordinator at St. Pius X. From 2009-2013 he was the Offensive Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach at Boyertown High School under Mark Scisly, winning the PAC-10 title in 2010 and breaking numerous offensive records during that time. In 2014 he went with Scisly to Northampton High School as the Offensive Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach.
He returned to Pottstown as an assistant under Don Grinstead (2015) and Gary Rhodenbaugh (2016) when the Trojans went back, in 2015, to the District 1 playoffs for the first time since 2002. He has also volunteered to coach for the Montgomery County, Berks County, and PAC Senior Bowl games. He has also coached softball, lacrosse, and baseball over the years.
This year he will return to the classroom as a Social Studies teacher and take the reigns as Head Coach of the Trojans with a staff of 8 Pottstown graduates. In addition to coaching, he has worked for the Pottstown School District as a teacher, a Dean of Students, an Assistant Principal, and Director of Career and Technical Education. He and his wife Kristen have two daughters, Ashley and Brynn.
Offensive Coordinator-QB’s Coach
Coach Santillo began his coaching career at the now defunct Bishop Kenrick High School (1990-1992) as a Wide Receivers coach. Upon the closure of Kenrick he moved on to be the WR’s at Harriton High School. In 1998, Coach Santillo returned to coaching at Kennedy-Kenrick High School as the Offensive Coordinator until 2005. In 2006 he was named Head Coach and coached there until the school closed in 2010.
Coach Santillo took on new challenges as the first head coach at Pope John Paul II High School from 2010-2014. After his time at PJP, Coach Santillo moved onto be the Offensive Coordinator, QB’s and WR’s coach at Norristown HS from 2015 to 2018.
Coach Santillo resides in Gilberstville with his wife Jessica and son Jackson(9).

Don’t Call it a Comeback; The 2019 Football season will mark Coach Morton’s 24rd year of coaching High School Athletics in the Pottstown area. Starting in 1995 “Coach Matt” began coaching JV Girls Basketball at Pottstown. As a Varsity assistant they won the PAC10 title in 1997. In 1996 He added JV Head Football coach under Dr. Sparagana and then Jodi Cwik. As a position coach he has served as a Linebackers, Wide Receivers, Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive signal caller. Helping build the program into a league contender, Going undefeated, allowing only 3 points in the regular season. Ultimately winning the PAC 10 Championship in 2002. In 2003 He became the Football Defensive Coordinator for St. Pius X (PT) and Interim Head Coach.
After 4 years as the Girls Basketball coach at Pottstown in 1999 Coach Matt moved to St. Pius X (PT) as the Varsity Defensive Coordinator for Girls Basketball from 1999 to 2009 where the teams competed in the Pac 10 final four 6 times, 4 Championship games, Winning the title in 2004. Winning a record 7 consecutive District 1 AA Titles. Making the State Semi Finals 3 times. Over the 10 years at SPX compiling a winning percentage .653
2004 thru 09 He Coached PAL football in Pottstown and Little League Baseball Winning Championships in Both sports.
In 2009 Coach stepped away from coaching HS athletics. In the Winter of 2018 Coach returned as the Head Girls Basketball Coach for The Trojans! Bringing back 2 of his former players to help rebuild the program Brittney (Bitter) Stevenson class of 1998 and Shanaye Glenn 2008
Coach Matt and Kristin have 3 children; Who grew up on the PHS fields and courts. Kelsey is 2011 Graduate of PHS, a Pottstown homeowner expecting her 1st child in August. At 2 years old Kelsey would crawl and play on the heavy bags during football practice. and blow the whistle at basketball. Owen a 2018 PHS graduate Also played in the bags and ran the floor as a toddler. Owen became a 4-year Varsity baseball player, 3-year varsity football player, starting Quarterback in 2017 & 2018. He is now starting Tight End at Alvernia University where he maintains a solid GPA and has earned All MAC Conference honors. Their youngest daughter Grayce will be an 8th grader at PMS very active in athletics and Theater.

Steven Irick returns to his Alma mater, Pottstown High School, not only as a new coach but as our new Culinary Arts teacher. After graduation from Pottstown High School in 2004 he attended Delaware Valley University. While playing football for the Aggie's he won 2 Division championship, he also was a two time academic all american. Steven graduated from Delaware Valley University with a bachelor degree in Restaurant and Food Service management. At Pottstown he was captain his senior year, and won the Coaches Award. Son of Mark & Jill Irick.

Anthony Wiggins Sr. - Middle School Head CoachPHS Class of 1999
Coach Wiggins is starting his 6th year at Pottstown and his first as the middle school Head Coach. The last 3 years he was the Offensive Coordinator and Offensive/Defensive Line Coach for the middle school program. He started coaching for the Pottstown P.A.L. organization in 2011 and were league champions in 2012 and 2013. Prior to coaching, Coach Wiggins played football at Pottstown High School and after graduation played semi-pro football for 3 years.
Coach Wiggins has been married to his beautiful wife, Janeka (Class of 1997) and has 3 children, Jazmen (21, Class of 2016), Anthony Jr. (19, Class of 2018) and Josiah (17, Class of 2020). Both boys played varsity football for the Trojans. All have attended Pottstown School District. Coach Wiggins currently resides in Pottstown, PA.
Gary Allan - Middle School Assistant CoachPHS Class of 2001
Gary Allen returns to his alma mater this year as the offensive and defensive line coach at the Middle School. As a player at Pottstown, he was a standout offensive and defensive lineman who was know for his aggressive attitude. Coach Allan has been coaching and volunteering in youth sports in Pottstown since 2009 for Pottstown Little League, Pottstown PAL Football, and Pottstown PAL Wrestling.
During his time as youth coach for Pottstown PAL, flag all the way though 6th grade, he has been a head coach, offensive, and defensive coordinator. During the 5th and 6th grade seasons, the PAL Trojans were very successful in player development and only lost 3 games over the 2 seasons. As a new assistant coach for the Pottstown Middle School, coach Allan is excited to continue learning a new style of coaching and to assist in bringing success to PHS Football.
Robert Purnell - Middle School Assistant Coach
Coach Purnell has lived in Pottstown for over 40 years and attended schooling in the Pottstown School District. While at Pottstown High School he played football as a wide receiver and middle linebacker. He was on the track team and ran the 4x100 and the long jump. He is proud of the 14 years he spent coaching football with P.A.L. He is a family man whose children came through the Pottstown School District and grandchildren are currently attending. Football has always been a passion and he is excited to be part of the Trojan staff.
