The gym got louder with cheering as hundreds of Deering students came together for a pep rally on Friday, September 25 to support their school and have fun with classmates.
Deering High School’s pep rally gives students and teachers a chance to come together and show school spirit each year. Students get to take a break from the normal classes, cheer for their school and support their classmates. It’s also a chance for students to have fun and make memories together.
As students come into the gym the room starts to get filled with noise and excitement. Students talking with their friends cheer and enjoy being a part of the pep rally. It is a fun change from a normal school day to bring students from different grades together instead of sitting in a class and doing work. Students get to enjoy time with their classmates. They can also show support for the school teams and the students who play on them help make the pep rally fun by cheering and taking part in the activities like musical chairs, tug-o-war, rock paper scissors. Teachers also help make the event happen when everyone joins in and the whole school can feel more connected for many students, but the pep rally is really a chance to spend time with friends and show pride in their school. In my interview with a 11th grader named Ivo , he stated how excited he was for the pep rally and who would win class president of junior year.
Junior Robinson A. stated, "Deering has the best pep rally every year."
The pep rally shows that school is not just about classes and homework. It’s also about having fun supporting friends and making memories that students can look back at.
