EAST END SUMMER PROGRAM
PROGRAM SCHEDULE: June 28-July 29 (Note: July 5th is a holiday), Mon-Thurs 8:30am-12:30pm
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Summer Science and Literacy Academy is a five week program running from June 28-July 29th. The program utilizes science, Literacy, math centers and math routines to engage students in summer learning. Classrooms are staffed with a teacher and an ed tech so that the instruction is differentiated and students have multiple opportunities for rich discourse in both small groups and whole class discussions.
AGES: Rising 1st - 3rd graders.

LEARNING WORKS AT EAST END
PROGRAM SCHEDULE: July 6 - August 12, Mon-Thurs 8:30am-12:30pm
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Portland LearningWorks Summer Camp will run from July 6th-August 12th in-person at 4 school locations, serving students from Reiche, East End, Talbot, Rowe, Ocean Ave, and Presumpscot Schools. The theme this summer is "Building Communities." Students will explore this theme through hands-on STEAM activities, neighborhood walks, field trips, online activities, and more! Students will enjoy hands-on engineering challenges, learn about their community, practice math and reading, and build positive relationships.
AGES: Rising 2nd - 5th graders.

LONGFELLOW SUMMER PROGRAM

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The 2021 Longfellow, Presumpscot and Rowe Summer program teachers will implement a crazy fun STEAM-based curriculum for students entering Grade 1-5. Students will engage students in hands-on activities and integrate science content into literacy and math lessons with a healthy dose of outdoor learning and play.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Lyseth’s summer program will focus on high engagement science activities as well as reading and writing workshops in a camp-like environment. In addition to the classroom learning, students will attend field trips, learn from guest speakers, get a t-shirt, and participate in a culminating event.

Ocean Avenue School
OCEAN AVENUE SUMMER PROGRAM
PROGRAM SCHEDULE: June 28-July 30 (Note: July 5th is a holiday), Mon-Fri 8:30am-12:30pm
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Ocean Avenue’s summer program will focus on K-3 students. For kindergarten students, the program will be Kindergarten Jumpstart, and for rising 1st through 3rd, the program will be modeled after the JT Gorham program that uses high engagement science activities. In addition, OAES will offer a program focused on reconnecting to school and peers through a social-emotional curriculum as well as a Summer Reads program.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: With the island as an extension of our classrooms, Peaks Island School will be focusing on high engagement science experiences that leverage the rich outdoor learning opportunities we have all over the island. These experiences will include the integration of meaningful reading, writing, and mathematics activities through fun, relevant, hands-on activities. Our summer program will include ongoing social-emotional learning and community building, as well as embedding our Summer Reads program.

TALBOT SUMMER PROGRAM
PROGRAM SCHEDULE: June 28-July 29 (Note: July 5th is a holiday), Mon-Thurs 8:30am-12:30pm
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Talbot’s summer program will focus on high engagement activities through science and social-emotional reconnection and fun. Students will go on weekly science-focused field trips as well as receive one content-focused book each week. The daily schedule will include morning meetings, outside learning, math games as well as literacy and science blocks.
