Attendance

School hours are 9:00am to 3:30pm daily. Please ensure your child arrives to school by 8:45am each day for a smooth beginning of the day transition with the school and classroom community.

Wednesdays are early release days and students are dismissed at 2:30pm.

Please notify us as early as possible each morning if your child is going to be absent by either calling the Rowe main office at 874-8205 or emailing our administrative assistants Sue Sullivan and Diane Riley at sullis@portlandschools.org and rileyd@portlandschools.org.

Please communicate with us and your child's teacher about any changes in dismissal by 11:00am each day so we can plan accordingly.

Early dismissal from school must take place before 3:00pm.The office phones will go to voicemail beginning at 3:10pm daily as we focus on a safe and orderly end of the day dismissal process.

Food at School

Breakfast and lunch are FREE OF CHARGE for ALL students. We always have plenty of food for everyone. There is no need to pre order of sign up for daily breakfast or lunch.

Students will each breakfast and snack with their classroom communities, and lunch with their grade level communities.

Lunch will be served in the cafeteria. There will be seating options both inside and outside, weather permitting. We will do our very best to offer outside seating as often as possible for eating this year, weather permitting.

Students can opt to bring their own lunch from home. Milk is 50 cents for students who would like a milk to go with their home lunch.

Please send a healthy snack and drink with your child to school each day if possible. We will have extra snack for those who need them and always appreciate snack donations.

Student arrival time is from 8:35-8:45am. During the first week of school, students will proceed directly to designated grade level outdoor meeting spots. A map is attached below. Beginning on September 7th, students can access the playground from 8:35-8:45 prior to heading to outdoor meeting spots.

In the case of inclement weather, students will proceed directly into the building. Staff will be present to guide students where they need to go, whether it be outside or inside each day. Parents are welcome to escort their children to outdoor meeting spots around the campus.

STUDENT DROP OFF:

• If dropping off by vehicle, please utilize the moving drop off lane. Keep your car running, say a quick goodbye and have your child exit the vehicle on the sidewalk.

• If you drive to school and plan to exit your vehicle to walk your child up to the building, please park in a designated marked spot (not the moving drop off lane).

Pre K pick-ups will be dismissed at 3:15. Please park and wait near the tree line for us to bring your children out to you.

K-5 student dismissal will begin at 3:25 each day.

K-5 foot pick-ups will be dismissed first. Please wait for your child at the garden gates or at the side playground doors, whichever exit is closest to where you are going after dismissal

K-5 Car Pick Ups will be dismissed next. We encourage use of the car pick up lane as opposed to parking and walking across campus. If you plan to exit your vehicle and walk to pick up your child, please park in a designated marked spot; not the moving pick up lane. When in the car pick up lane, please take direction from supervising staff in regard to moving and stopping.

PLEASE NOTE: Parking is ALWAYS limited at Rowe as the lot fills close to capacity with staff vehicles each day. Walking, biking, scootering, etc. are highly encouraged for student drop off and pick up whenever possible. THANK YOU!
