Afternoon Group

Week of March 23rd - For this week please pick a fiction book to read either one at home or from the sites Mrs. Joyce has posted. When you are done we are going to continue our work on writing what has happened in the beginning, in the middle, and in the end. Please make each of those it's own paragraphs and work to have 3-5 sentences in each paragraph.

Bonus: try to use words with contractions!

Remember share your work with me! florik@portlandschools.org

Week of March 30th - For this week please continue to pick a fiction book to read either one at home or from the sites Mrs. Joyce has posted. When you are done we are going to continue our work on writing what has happened in the beginning, in the middle, and in the end. Please make each of those it's own paragraphs and work to have 3-5 sentences in each paragraph. However, I want you to make sure you start to add how your character's feelings start to change in the story as well. Usually a character is feeling happier at the end than they did in the beginning. Is yours!

Bonus: continue to try to use words with contractions!

Remember share your work with me! florik@portlandschools.org

Week of April 6th - This week let's really focus in on your main character in one of your fiction books that you read. Please identify who is the main person in your story, what they want, why they want it, what made it hard for them to get it and if they end up getting it how that happened. We haven't specifically talked about this before but the main character (the one the story is mostly about) always wants something, take this week to focus on that and remember to share your work with me. We will build on this work the following week.

Week of April 13th - For this week please read one fiction book and complete the exit ticket in Google Forms. I look forward to trying out this new way to collect information from you! Make sure to hit submit when you are done!

Week of April 27th - We are going to focus on long vowel combinations this week. Please complete the form below and then write sentences to me using the words you have come up with!

Week of May 4th - This week we are going to switch to non-fiction. This week I'd like you to find something you are interested in learning about either through a digital book or a print book. I'd like for you to write to me 7-10 sentences about what you learned while reading your non-fiction book. If you need any help finding books digitally let me know!

Week of May 18th - Watch the video below. When you have finished please write to me about the different ways each animal uses their wings. Was there something that surprised you as you read?

Week of May 25th - This is your final assignment from me. I would like for you to read a book either fiction or non-fiction and just write a letter to me about it. The letter could be what you learned, why you liked it, what happened in the book. Anything you'd like! I can't wait to read your letters! I miss all of you!
