Vaccinate Against the Flu!

Flu season is here and while every year it is important to get the flu shot, it is especially important this year!

Greater Portland Health's Student Based Health Center will be administering flu shots on the afternoons of 10/20, 10/23, 10/27 and 10/30. This is by appointment only. Please contact Ms Nalli, School Nurse, for a flu shot appointment (nallie@portlandschools.org).

Insurance will be billed for vaccines, but if you do not have any insurance then there is no cost for this vaccine.

Students must complete the below Registration and Consent form and bring it to the school nurse prior to the vaccine appointment. If under 18 years of age, a parent/guardian must sign the consent form.

Other places to get a flu shot include: pediatrician's office, primary care doctor's offices, pharmacies (Walgreens, CVS, Hannaford....). There are lots of places to get a flu shot in Portland!

Here are daily reminder videos from Nurse Nalli about starting school.

Many small steps will keep Deering healthy:

  1. Know the symptoms of COVID. Click here to see a video on the symptoms of COVID-19. Stay home if you have symptoms or if you are sick. Separate yourself from other people and contact a health care provider to figure out next steps.

  2. Wear a mask. Watch this video to see how to wear a mask.

  3. Stay 6 feet apart when possible.

  4. Wash your hands. Watch a video on how to wash your hands: English, Espanol, Francais.
