The Gildersleeve School library program is committed to helping each student excel and achieve maximum potential by creating a 21st Century learning environment, fostering a love of reading, and promoting the effective use of information and communications technology. Through collaboration, the library media specialist partners with the entire school community to empower students in becoming productive lifelong learners and responsible citizens.
The Marlene Ferenc Library Media Center serves approximately 300+ students in grades two through four. The library media center is staffed by a full-time School Library Media Specialist. The library has a collection of over 10,000 resources including print, digital, and audio. The library collection supports the current curriculum as well as providing materials for students' personal interests.
Circulation:
Books are circulated for one week and can be renewed. Students are encouraged to ask the librarian, teachers and peers for suggestions.
A student with multiple overdue items is encouraged to return the items before checking out other materials. The library always prefers the return of the book over payment as some books cannot be replaced. If payment is made to clear a student's circulation account and the item is found in good condition within the school year, the money will be reimbursed.
Hours:
The Library Media Center is open to students from 8:30 to 2:45. No student is allowed in the LMC unless an adult is present.
