This project was developed over the course of 2022-23 in a joint piece of work between the Worksop Family of Schools and Outwood Grange Academy Trust. The aim of this project was to collate and further develop high-quality approaches to supporting the needs of SEND pupils across the town, and to place this information in a central repository for the easy reference of teachers and teaching assistants in the locality. The project, visualised initially by Worksop Headteacher Phil Abbott, has been supported by Chris Rigby and Lynsey Pether (OGAT), alongside Worksop's Family SENCO Karen Slater. In developing the project from its embryonic stage, school SENCOs from across the town have also contributed ideas and solutions to develop a Worksop-wide toolkit for SEND provision.
School Leaders across Worksop have a firm desire to work together to improve provision and outcomes for all pupils, including those with SEND. Leaders recognise that in working together, expertise and resource can be pooled and shared most effectively. Leaders also recognise the wealth of information and research around many aspects of SEND and wish to distil the most pertinent and practical elements within this webspace, so that practitioners - experienced and less experienced - can refer easily to them when required.
The associated documents, webpages and resources aim to be a supportive tool for use by ALL school staff to identify possible strategies to use in our schools. It recognises that each school classroom and young person is unique.
Practitioners should refer to the 4 main areas of SEND need listed in the next section below in order to find approaches and resources most commonly found to be helpful in working with pupils with such needs.
