Student parking permits are a privilege and come with certain obligations…
• Drive carefully and courteously.
• Park only in the student parking lot, not staff or guest parking areas.
• Park between the lines in marked parking spots only.
• Take care not to block traffic lanes and fire lanes.
• Lock your car.
• Help keep the parking lots clean and safe.
• Report any accidents or thefts to the Police School Resource Officer.
• Limit your time in the parking lot exclusively to arriving or leaving school or during lunch.
• Be courteous to classes that may be in session when you are in the parking lot.
Please be aware that the City of Portage will ticket cars improperly parked in handicapped spots or fire lanes. Other offenses will result in school consequences including detention/suspension and possible loss of driving privileges. Cars parked on Portage Public Schools property are subject to search.
During the school day, all cars parked in the student parking lot must have a current parking permit posted in the bottom left-hand corner of the windshield.
To obtain a permit, first, fill out this form.
Then, visit the Welcome Center and bring your driver's license, student ID, car registration, and $20 with you.
Register your car with the school in your own name, not that of the previous driver.
Students who are caught parking without a sticker will be charged $25.
If your car is in the shop and you are driving a temporary vehicle, email or visit the Welcome Center to let them know in advance of parking the unregistered car on school grounds. They will give you a temporary pass to use.
