Academic Support at PCHS

Teachers

Your child's teachers are the number one resource for academic support.  Encourage your Mustangs to keep lines of communication open with their teachers first and foremost!  Each teacher has a variety of resources specifically tailored to the subjects and concepts they teach, and can point students in the right direction most efficiently.  Asking questions during class is critical!

The Learning Center

If a student needs some extra time to work in a quiet, productive environment after school, our Learning Center is open daily until 3:30 where Mrs. Rank, one of our awesome staff members, is there for you.  She can help you get organized if that's what you're looking for, or, you can get to work uninterrupted, either works!

The Learning Center is also a place where teachers schedule appointments with students for makeup tests.  Reach out to your teacher if this is something that might be helpful to you.

Other Academic Supports

For students looking for more supports, there are additional resources available, with some caveats.

For example, students may wish to request a seminar (study period) in their schedule, though these requests must take place within our schedule change policy timelines and seats must be available.  Students interested in adding a seminar into their should reach out to their counselor for more information about schedule change policies and availability.

Our student activities office also coordinates mentor tutoring for students.  This academic support relies on the availability of peer tutors and the schedule of the peer tutors and the student making the request.  Interested students should reach out to the Activities Office for more information and to inquire about peer-tutor availability.
