Getting students to engage with their feedback has always been a struggle. From physical copies of marked work remaining uncollected, to students only asking for their grade for a digital hand in. What can we do to increase a student's understanding and desire to read and reflect on their work through academic feedback?
This session aims to give 5 simple tips starting with Assessment design through the process of academic marking to the overall engagement of the feedback on the work. Using a range of audience response tools (e.g. Nearpod) this session will have activities to get you thinking about your current practice and how that practice can be developed or adapted.
Session Aims
The aims of this session are to:
Be able to summarise the range of digital assessments the university can provide and how each tool can work towards increasing a students understanding of their feedback.
The ability to apply pedagogic methods of co-creation to formal assessment so that a partnership between academic and student can be created.
Understand how to facilitate successful engagement in pedagogic dialogue through audience response systems
