Every year, hundreds of engineering students showcase their final year projects as part of our annual Student Projects Open Day.

The School of Engineering Projects Open Day is designed to build links with industry, schools and colleges, and with the wider public. Visitors from industry are often placement providers or potential employers. The best student projects are awarded prizes which are sponsored by engineering and technology companies/bodies including the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, InSync Technology, Prosig and BMT group.

Projects are a major part of all of our courses and form a bridge between academic study and professional life. They represent a significant amount of work on the part of the students. Undergraduate (including integrated Masters) projects are in one of the following distinct subject areas:

• Electronic, Computer and Communications Engineering and Computer Networking
• Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering
• Product Design and Innovation, Computer Aided Design
• Petroleum Engineering
• Multidisciplinary Group Projects
