Employability skills and personal development
The Learning Place
This is a service which is part of Portsmouth City Council's Employment, Learning and Skills service. However, they are entirely externally funded. They offer a wide range of courses supporting employability such as qualifications in Maths, ICT, Food Safety as well as Employability skills such as CV writing.

Safe New Futures Programmes
This programme offers free, CBT based courses to people who are unemployed or struggling to engage with education. It aims to build elf-esteem, self-confidence and to increase motivation as well as identifying their strengths, skills and passions and to consider what types of jobs/careers might be of interest to them. They also provide some vocational training on goal setting, and to improve mental health by encouraging different ways of thinking about themselves, others and their future.

Portsmouth College
This college has three schemes, Horizons, Aspire and Futures. Horizons is designed to develop basic adults skills and preparation for adulthood. Aspire provides courses on numeracy, literacy and employability skills. Futures provide courses in a wide range of areas such as Accountancy, Hairdressing or Digital marketing.
Each of these schemes provide work placements.
