3DTeLC: Bringing the 3-D World into the Classroom: a New Approach to Teaching, Learning and Communicating the Science of Geo-hazards in Terrestrial and Marine Environments



Welcome to the home of 3DTeLC, a three year Erasmus+ funded project to develop a pan-European framework for improving the understanding of onshore and offshore natural hazards by bringing the 3-D world of these environments into the classroom using advanced creative visualisation techniques and emerging technological solutions.

Virtual reality one of the emerging technologies that has the potential to revolutionise how environmental and geo-sciences are taught. The main aims of the project are to develop a series of virtual reality models for different natural hazard environments in both onshore and offshore environments; to generate teaching tool kits using these data and release them for free to the academic and industrial community. This video illustrates one example where users can navigate terrains via an Oculus headset and are able to fly and walk over the terrain, allowing interaction with their surroundings.

Meetings

Mobility is an important part of the project, whereby staff and students from each institution will be attending regular training workshops.
