8th Graders - Don't forget to bring a shirt in the colors of your intended high school!
ANNOUNCEMENT: TUESDAY, 2/12/19 ***SNOW DAY
Hello! As instructed yesterday, classes RELIGION 8 and ELA 8 need to see Google Classroom for their snow day assignments. RELIGION 7 does not have any posted assignments for today.
Stay safe and warm today!
Dear 8th Grade Families,
Over the past few months, your children have completed their learning in our first ever STREAM Expo, and they were incredible! This project has been a new kind of learning experience for our students as well as the faculty. It was exciting to watch students work through the challenges and gain new skills in research, collaboration, communication and problem-solving.
In the next few days, we will be evaluating the students’ learning through a series of short response questions covering the Science, Social Studies, Religion and ELA content and skills acquired through this process. Each student will have the opportunity to individually compose their responses to demonstrate what they have learned. Each student will earn a Science grade for the content in their responses, as well as an ELA grade for their quality of writing composition. In preparation for the STREAM Expo last Friday, the students were given a list of questions to help demonstrate a deep understanding of their project. The students also presented their projects in class last week for a Speaking and Listening grade.
The judges raved about the students’ depth of knowledge and enthusiasm. Bryan Colahan, Curriculum Developer from ProjectEngin also had many complimentary things to say about our expo. One judge commented that our students “give me hope for the future!”. We are extremely proud of the work your children have put forth and the products they have developed. We also look forward to the future!
The 8th Grade Team
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a really great break and had some time to rest/relax.
I want to thank all of you for your very generous Visa and Khols giftcards that the class gifted me before break. The mug, Christmas calendar, and basket made a beautiful package and I was very surprised. I had a bit of time to go shopping over the break and am refreshing my wardrobe - which is a true luxury and I love it! Thank you again!
I also want to thank you for making the Christmas party happen for our students. Hopefully they had good things to say about the little sock exchange and the games we played. It was fun to see them work together in such a relaxed way.
Have a great day -
