About IAC 2026

The Indian Anthropology Congress (IAC) is the annual event of the Indian National Confederation and Academy of Anthropologists (INCAA). The Congress aims to bring together academicians, scientists, and researchers of all branches of anthropology and allied disciplines to deliberate and share their research findings. IAC has been initiated by INCAA since the year 2004. Over time, IAC has become the premier forum for Indian anthropologists, providing a national platform for scholarly exchange across India’s diverse regions and disciplines. IAC-2026 is organized by the Department of Anthropology, Pondicherry University with support from the Centre for Study of Social Inclusion, Pondicherry University. The theme for IAC 2026 is "Rethinking Anthropology: Biological and Cultural Diversity, Indian Knowledge Systems and Sustainability". The theme urges renewed engagement with diversity, local knowledge, sustainability concerns, and the varied Anthropologies to build an inclusive and equitable future. IAC 2026 will hold three memorial lectures (B.M. Das Memorial Lecture, S.C. Dube Memorial Lecture and V.K. Srivastava Memorial Lecture), two Roundtables and 19 invited Panels.
