Indian National Confederation and Academy of Anthropologists (INCAA)
The Indian National Confederation and Academy of Anthropologists (INCAA) is the apex professional body for anthropologists in India, founded in 2004. It now has more than 1200 members spanning almost every State and Union Territory. INCAA’s mission is to advance anthropological knowledge, foster collaboration among scholars, and promote ethical practice. In practice, it does this by organizing the annual Indian Anthropology Congress (IAC) and other symposia, publishing newsletters and monographs, and networking practitioners across the country.

Pondicherry University (PU)
Pondicherry University is a central university established in 1985, located in Puducherry. It is accredited “A+” by the NAAC, reflecting its high standards in education and research. The university comprises 14 Schools and around 52 departments (spread across campuses in Puducherry, Karaikal Port Blair and Mahe) and over 9000 students across UG, PG and doctoral programs. School of Social Sciences & International Studies (SSSIS), Pondicherry University
The School of Social Sciences and International Studies is the second largest School of Pondicherry University, consisting of 5 Departments and 5 Centres which are: the Departments of Anthropology, History, Sociology, Social Work and Politics and International Studies and the Centres for Women’s Studies, Study of Social Inclusion, South Asian Studies, Maritime Studies and European Studies. The School offers 25 Programmes, which include a Four-Year Honours Programme, a Five-Year Integrated MA Programme, a Master’s Programme and a Doctoral Research Programme leading to Ph. D. Degree. The faculty members of the School, having had their Ph. D. Degrees from premier institutions in India and abroad, cater to the learning requirements of 1200 plus students and Ph. D. Scholars across the different disciplines. The School is recognized along the length and breadth of India for its distinguished Faculty and Alumni.

Department of Anthropology, Pondicherry University
The Department of Anthropology (in SSSIS) was established in the year 1999. The Department provides facilities for intensive training and research in the areas of Socio-Cultural Anthropology, Physical Anthropology, Medical Anthropology and Visual Anthropology. The Department is committed to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential while contributing meaningfully to their field and society at large. Ethnographic field work is the stronghold of the curriculum. The faculty members are not only dedicated educators but also active researchers and professionals who bring real-world insights into the classroom, working together towards continued growth and excellence. The Department actively fosters collaboration, critical thinking, and innovation through various academic programs, research initiatives, seminars, lectures, out-reach activities, and student-led activities. Centre for Study of Social Inclusion (CSSI), Pondicherry University
The CSSI (Centre for Study of Social Inclusion) is an interdisciplinary centre established in 2009. Its mandate is to address inequalities and promote inclusive development in India. Centres as itself, have been conceptualized and established to correct through teaching and research, the inequalities created through discrimination and deprivation promoted by hegemonic structures. It is the goal of the Centre to contribute to the democratic process by checking the creation and propulsion of social exclusion through theory and policy contributions. CSSI’s work spans teaching, research and community engagement. It offers an M.A. Programme in Human Rights and Inclusive Policy and a Ph.D. Programme with specialization in Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy. The Centre adopts a multi-disciplinary approach. Currently, the Centre faculty are from the disciplines of Anthropology, Sociology, Social Work, and Development Studies. The research focus of the Centre is on marginalised groups and includes Gender, Disability, Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes, Religious Minorities and Rural-Urban spaces.
