ABSTRACT
Research week
Girona is a city full of history where some important events have happened over the centuries and where we could find the remains of the places where the rituals from the Caputxins were done, the shelter where there was a lockdown for the Peninsular War ..., these are just some examples of everything that this city’s history has to tell. In this research week we have had the opportunity to investigate the Caputxins, their history and analyze the bomb shelter in Jardí de l’Infància.
We have put all together on a website based on the information we had found and we have also created an escape room around the story of these locations.
Firstly, we started by searching who the Caputxins were and why they practiced their rituals and we also seeked why and how the bomb shelter was built and used. We have investigated every aspect of the landmarks of Girona where we will make the escape room and we took pictures to put them on our website. At the same time, we started putting the photos and elaborating the escape room with information we saw in Girona, and to end and complete the information we went back to the places to get the last part of information we needed for this project. On the other hand, to make the escape room, we invented some clues and some games that they will have to carry out in the different places, and we also recorded a video showing how we were creating the escape room and an advertisement to encourage people to participate on it. As well as a presentation was made and on this presentation there is the information about the Cementery, la Cisterna and the bombshelter but also the videos of the escape room. Finally, some people will come to try the escape room and we will record a video of them doing it.
During our research, we learned that the Caputxins were a group of monks who instead of burying the dead in the ground, they seated them on a chair to let them dry and then they mummified the bodies because they believed it was a divine act. We also learnt what the Jardí de l’Infància was used for and all about the events that happened there: more than 600 people went there to find shelter from the bombs, during the Spanish Civil War. We followed the same process with the Cisterna. La Cisterna was a place where water was saved to be used in a future for the Convent dels Caputxins during the sixteenth century.
In conclusion, we have discovered every aspect of our project that we wanted to discover and this has let us end with a good task. The project has been finished satisfactorily and we consider we gave it all of ourselves.
