In Third Grade, students continue expanding their vocabulary in Spanish and developing their language skills while engaging in group and independent activities. We start our lessons by singing along a recurrent thematic song that includes the vocabulary of the unit at hand. Before moving on to our main task, we play “preguntas en cadena” where students ask each other “¿Cómo se dice…?” to review the vocabulary being introduced in class. Third graders have been working on Sentimientos, Animales and Números. For the Sentimientos unit, third graders worked on a self portrait and shared three feelings about themselves. As we celebrated the Hispanic Heritage Month, for the Animales unit, third graders created their own Mola-inspired art based on the Kuna Art (San Blás, Panamá). In our current unit, students are working on numbers and practicing “Matemáticas en español”. Platforms used in the Spanish class are: Rockalingua, Wordwall, Quizlet, and Pixton. Ask your child what’s their favorite activity in the Spanish class!
