First Grade Art

Our choice-based art program is off to a wonderful start. Our First-grade artists have been developing their ideas and artistic voices in the following areas: drawing, collage, needle felting, block construction/architecture, cardboard construction, and paper sculpture. With the understanding that the art classrooms are “their studios”, students have risen to the challenge of becoming “experts” in the various stations. When it is their time to assume the “expert” role, they have learned enough to become a helper, a teacher, and an organizer. The students are proud of their accomplishments and understand how vital their roles are in maintaining a shared space.
