About Me
Hello! I am so excited to be teaching at Van Wert Elementary School this year! Go Jackets! I have taught in many places across Georgia and in Alabama. This will be my 15th year in education and I absolutely have loved every year of it. My husband is the Principal at Rockmart High School and my son, Everett, will attend Rockmart Middle School. My daughter, Emily, will be entering college this year at University of Alabama in Birmingham.
I attended high school in Alabama and graduated from Ashford High School. I earned my Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, and my Specialist Degree from Georgia Southwestern University in Americus, Georgia. I have enjoyed furthering my education and learning new things about my profession to make me the best teacher possible.
I love to teach history in the classroom and novel studies. For this reason, on vacation, I always take my family to an activity that is historical along the way. I think the stories of our nation, state, and ourselves as people are some of the most interesting topics to learn about.
Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is very simple. I want kids to learn in a place that is positive and safe. I enjoy routines so the children know what to expect. A very consistent, structured environment is what I try my best to offer while making learning fun and interesting along the way. I also believe in hard work. I expect students to work for me just as hard as I work for them. If we both do that, then the year will be a great one! Lots of growth! Lots of fun! Lots of goals achieved!
