youth power to the polls:
August 11, 2018
What are the priorities for the next state superintendent of California schools?
How will they ensure that low-income people and students of color are successful in school?
Hundreds of thousands of young people are getting ready to vote in November, some for the first time, and they have some questions for the candidates, Tony Thurmond and Marshall Tuck.
Youth leaders from across the state will ask candidates about their positions, plans, and priorities for California’s K-12 schools and universities. The session will also include an interactive art exhibit and performances.
Tony Thurmond, Assembly Member
Marshall Tuck, Schools Improvement Director
