youth power to the capitol
August 13, 2018
The advocacy day is the longest-standing portion of the Youth Power Summit. Beginning seven years ago as an advocacy day for the Alliance for Boys and Men of Color, this day has expanded to include other networks and leaders fighting to advance race and gender justice in California.
This year, advocacy day will kick off with a rally on the North steps of the Capitol, where California’s youth leaders will share their vision for a more just and equitable future. Youth will then conduct over 100 legislative visits with senators and assembly members to share their stories, advocate for policies to improve community outcomes, and educate agency and constitutional officers.
