The CEFR, or Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, is an international standard for measuring language ability. It is used worldwide to assess and describe the language skills of learners at six levels, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (proficient).
CEFR-based tests evaluate reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills to determine a person's ability to communicate effectively in real-life situations. These tests are commonly required for work, study, or travel in English-speaking countries. Knowledge of CEFR tests helps learners understand their current language level and identify areas for improvement.
In this course, each skill is covered in terms of the test-taker experience, question types, tips and tricks for success and further study recommendations. It aims to:
• Familiarize attendees with common task types that are used in CEFR-based language tests
• Practise sample test items in controlled and freer activities
• Share techniques and useful skills for different task types
• Look at ways to develop language competencies going forward
The objective of CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) test preparation training online is to equip learners with the necessary skills and strategies to successfully pass CEFR assessments. Key goals include:
1. Language Proficiency Development: Enhance speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills aligned with the CEFR levels (A1 to C2).
2. Familiarization with Test Format: Introduce participants to the structure and types of questions in CEFR tests, ensuring they know what to expect.
3. Exam Strategies: Teach effective test-taking strategies, including time management, question analysis, and response techniques.
4. Practice and Feedback: Provide ample practice opportunities with sample tests and personalized feedback to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
5. Building Confidence: Increase learners' confidence in using the language through mock tests and interactive exercises.
6. Cultural Awareness: Incorporate cultural elements relevant to language use, enhancing overall communicative competence.
