Reading (40 marks) (25%) – one single text
1 short form question (1 x 4 marks) Comprehension
2 longer form questions (2 x 8 marks) Language analysis / Structure analysis
1 extended question (1 x 20 marks) Evaluation of what the writer has done (in relation to a statement); analysis of the methods the writer has used.
Writing (40 marks) (25%)
1 extended writing question (24 marks for content, 16 marks for technical accuracy) Creative writing (story writing/description); technical control
Please note that the format of the exam paper has changed slightly for this year group (for first examination in summer 2026). Care should be taken if using printed or online revision tools as most will be in the old format.
