Innovation Awards

Nominations for the 2020 Innovative Educator and Leader are now open.

This year will be awarding up to three PLSD educators with Innovation Awards. Please use the form below to nominate a PLSD educator (teacher, parapro, aide, support staff, administrator). The three Innovation Award recipients will receive a desktop award and $250 to spend on a innovative project for their classroom.

Innovative Educator - 2019

Linda Podgurski

First Grade Teacher - Violet Elementary School

      • She has shown great courage when looking at how she can provide the best educational environment for her students.
      • She’s always looking for innovative ways to capture the interests and engagement of her students.
      • Mastering a few applications has taken her class of students into a technological frenzy!

Innovative Educator - 2019

Ryan Cole

Integrated English Language Arts - 7th Grade - Ridgeview STEM Junior High School

      • He is a consummate professional who is always thinking and learning about new strategies to support student growth and achievement
      • He is a self-starter, critical thinker and a problem-solver who continues to find strong practices to support learning while being willing and open to share his findings and work with his colleagues.

Stephanie Howell

Instructional Technology Coordinator - Middle Schools

      • She does an excellent job of working with both teachers and students. She empowers both of them to use technology and to be innovative. She is always available when I have a question about how to use technology more innovative.
      • She works diligently to stay up to date of new and creative tech ideas and she then shares those with us. She is extremely responsive and timely when teachers reach out to her. I really appreciate her weekly newsletter. I always get new ideas!
