The mission of Foothill High School’s Wellness Center is to provide support, education, and resources that focus on the well-being of the whole student. We recognize that the interplay of cognitive, behavioral, emotional, physical and social well-being contributes to the overall health
of our students.
Our hope is to contribute to building a healthy school environment while supporting academic growth and positive behavioral, social and emotional development.
The Wellness Center is designed to be a quiet and peaceful space, where students can relax and decompress for a short while.
If you find yourself needing a break, you may visit the Wellness Center. Any Foothill High School student is welcome to use the Wellness Center and all its resources. The Wellness Center is open Monday - Friday, during school hours. Students need to sign in at the Counseling Office first.
The Wellness Center is located in the main office building next to the Counseling Office (formerly the Career Center).
The Wellness Center offers a variety of workshops, covering a selection of topics, such as stress management, mindfulness, anxiety, etc. We also offer digital and print educational resources, and students have access to devices to research topics related to wellness. Wellness Center events are posted on Foothill’s website and in the Wellness Center.
If a student needs to meet with a counselor to address mental health needs, they may come to the Wellness Center for individual counseling support. The Wellness Center also offers support groups, focusing on needs-based topics. We also have Doggie Drop In during FLEX period, with some wonderful therapy dogs. Students require teacher/counselor referral to receive an invitation.
If a student simply needs to take some time to relax and decompress, they may come to the Wellness Center to sit quietly. There are coloring books, fidget toys, Zen Garden sand trays, headphones to listen to calming music, and other relaxation tools to unwind and recenter. Students may stay for 15 minutes to reset, and then return to class, or speak further with a counselor.
