One-Room Schoolhouse

Dear Third Grade Parents,

 The students will be going back in time over 100 years! We will be simulating a one-room school house,  complete with old-time lessons, games, and activities. This is the culminating activity for our study of  Pleasanton History. On this day, please have your child dress in a simple outfit that would be appropriate  around 100 years ago.   CLOTHING. Some clothing suggestions are:

For Boys             For Girls

 Button-down shirt     Button-down blouse Long or short pants     Long dress or skirt Suspenders if possible    Apron  Boots       Boots Cap or straw hat     Bonnet or straw hat Handkerchief      Handkerchief

Overalls 

LUNCH.  Please send a picnic type lunch in a basket, aluminum pail, or wrapped in a cloth. No plastic please!  Send only items that would have been available 100 years ago. If none of these are available at home,  you can always wrap your child's lunch with brown bag paper and tie with yarn or string for an old  schoolhouse look.

For lunch, some suggestions include: fresh fruit, bread, dried fruit, jerky, cheese, vegetables, and meats. Please wrap the food in paper, waxed paper, or cloth napkins (plastic baggies did not exist 100 years  ago!)
