Sharing a moment from my 2025 adventures.
Hello fellow PLC Old Girls,
After a year of renewed energy, growing engagement, and some wonderful reconnections, it’s exciting to carry that momentum forward into 2026.
Last year’s reunion weekend was such a success that we’ll be aligning our dates again this August to align with TAS. There is more information below on this so we ask that you forward this email on to your fellow ex-students from previous years and don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions.
We’re also introducing OGU merchandise for the first time in recent memory. It’s a small fundraising effort, with proceeds split 50/50 between our bursary for student scholarships and an elected charity. The art is my own, I have provided as a gift to the Union, and simply hope you enjoy the design and the little nods to our PLC days.
As our activities grow, so does our need for more hands and more voices. We are earnestly calling for volunteers across all areas—archives, events, communications, fundraising, and more. Frankly, some parts of this community simply won’t continue unless people put their hands up, and that would be a real shame.
For those interested in archives work, we are also able to offer paid hours. It’s a great project for a part‑time worker or retiree who enjoys careful, meaningful work. There are a fantastic bunch of talented and interesting women you will get to work with and we would be delighted for you to join us.
I’m excited for what’s ahead and look forward to hearing your ideas, stories, and suggestions as we continue building a Union that honours our past and strengthens our future.
Warm wishes,
Melissa Harvey

Join us at PLC Armidale for Alumnae Weekend 2026. Reach out to your year group, make your plans, and come back to reconnect with the school and each other.
All Old Girls and past and present staff are invited. We especially encourage attendance from the Class of 2021 (celebrating 5 years!) and all graduating years ending in 6, but every cohort is welcome.
We look forward to seeing our community come together for a memorable weekend.
Photos from our 2025 Alumni weekend!
PLC Armidale and Hilton hold thousands of archival items from over 100 years of our school’s rich and unique history. These range from photos, Ad Astras, uniforms, letters, and more—but many are at risk of degrading.
We recognise that so many of us lead very busy lives and may not have a great deal of time to spare but an hour or two here and there can make a huge difference to helping preserve our school’s history for years to come.
One way we are hoping to achieve this is to digitise and protect the physical condition of our collection. Training is available, and we have set aside some small grants to compensate some of your time. This would be perfect for part time workers, retirees or anyone with a connection to the school and minutes to spare!
Please consider putting your hand up, without intervention, we may lose our collective school history.
Email us at oldgirls@plcarmidale.nsw.edu.au if you’re interested in being part of these efforts!
Ally Chapman (nee van Duijnhoven) has spent the past six years working across a range of NSW Government departments, gaining experience in water regulation, drought programs, animal health and biosecurity, pest management, land and water management, and sheep eID tracing.
She values the variety of the work and the opportunity to contribute to practical outcomes for regional communities.
Some of her favourite memories from school come from the Cattle Team with Jacko and Mrs Miller, an experience that helped nurture her interest in agriculture.
She has since completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Production & Management, an Advanced Diploma of Agribusiness Management, and a Diploma of Agriculture. Her journey has taken a few unexpected turns, from leaving uni to changing degrees and extensive travel, and some curveballs, but importantly, it led her to a sense of stability and happiness. Outside of work, Alex enjoys travelling, riding horses, training dogs, and spending time with her young family.
Thanks so much Ally for giving us a glimpse into life after school and all you’ve accomplished along the way.
Introducing our PLC Old Girls silk scarf and scrunchies, designed by OGU President Melissa Harvey and inspired by PLC colours and motifs.
The silk scarf is $65 and the scrunchies are $15.
Look closely and you may spot subtle PLC‑related imagery woven into the design.
Half of all proceeds support our bursary program, with the remaining half directed to a charity chosen annually by the OGU. In 2026, we continue our support of the 19:19 Challenge.
Purchase a scarf or scrunchie (both pictured below) to support scholarships, life‑saving cancer research, and a touch of PLC nostalgia.
Please note these appear as “events” but you are purchasing items.

Help build the next issue of the Green Tartan! (Or dob in a friend!)
We love hearing from our community members and have a simple form for sharing your stories and life milestones.
We're not just looking for world beaters; we invite all former staff and students to provide an update for inclusion in Green Tartan.
It could be a recipe, a Guild Drama memory, school sport, art or music stories from yesteryear or to celebrate any post-PLC achievement with your OGU community!
Please share these links widely!
